Chandler, Ariz. – February 15, 2017
Chandler Arizona-based Sun Valley Solar Solutions and Chicago-based SoCore Energy are nearing completion of major solar energy projects for five big box retail stores located throughout the greater Phoenix area. Starting last summer, four solar retrofits are now complete, with the final sites on track for completion in late spring this year.

SoCore Energy reviewed numerous responses during their request for proposal (RFP) process before selecting Sun Valley Solar Solutions as their local partner on this project. The Chandler -based firm beat-out numerous local and national installers to win the projects being completed for a high profile national retailer.

“Sun Valley Solar Solutions is a well-respected provider with strong local relationships and an impressive client portfolio,” said David Rosenow, Project Manager for SoCore Energy. “We felt that Sun Valley Solar had the best resources and technical expertise to handle a multi-site project at this scale. From the extremely tight construction schedule to the creative placement of panels in the shape of a the retailers’ logo on the roof, our client couldn’t be in better hands.”

The five sites are a mix of four retail locations, as well as a distribution center near 75th avenue in Phoenix. Retail sites include two in Mesa, as well as Peoria, Westgate and Glendale.

“We are enormously proud to be selected to partner with SoCore Energy on such a notable project,” said Curt Hilliker, Senior Director of Business Development for Sun Valley Solar Solutions’ commercial division. “We are excited to support SoCore and their client’s commitment to sustainability to bring cost effective renewable power at such scale. We are extremely pleased to play a role in their biggest solar deployment yet for the state of Arizona.”

When commissioned, the environmental impact of the new Phoenix-area systems will be dramatic.  At their peak production these five locations combined can produce 3.64MW, enough to power almost 600 homes and avoid the carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to burning nearly 5,000,000 pounds of coal every year, according to estimates generated by the Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas equivalencies calculator.
