Solar for Utilities
Empower Your Grid with Clean, Reliable Solar Energy
Utilities play a critical role in delivering power to communities—but managing energy supply and controlling costs remain ongoing challenges. Solar energy offers a strategic, sustainable way to increase capacity, reduce carbon emissions, and stabilize long-term operational expenses. By integrating solar into your portfolio, you can align with environmental goals, meet rising demand, and safeguard your grid against price fluctuations.
Proven Results: ED2 and Carol Springs
In 2017, Electric District 2 (ED2) in Casa Grande, Arizona, partnered with Sun Valley Solar Solutions to build a 1.5 megawatt solar plant. The system is now generating enough clean energy to power approximately 300 homes annually, with a projected lifespan of 30–40 years. Over its lifetime, this plant will offset an estimated 2.7 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions—equivalent to retiring a fleet of gas-powered generators.
More recently, Carol Springs commissioned a 63.84 kW ground-mounted system, built with more than 165 REC 380 W panels. In its first year alone, the system is expected to generate over 121,600 kWh, equivalent to avoiding nearly 95,000 pounds of coal burned or more than 5,900 gallons of gasoline consumed. This installation not only reduces energy costs but firmly shields Carol Springs from rising utility rates for decades to come.

Carol Springs Invests in Solar to Reduce Energy Costs and Strengthen Sustainability
Why Solar Makes Sense for Utilities
Grid operators and utility companies face pressure to decarbonize while ensuring reliability and affordability. Incorporating solar allows you to diversify energy sources, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and stabilize long-term costs. With panels that can operate for 30 years or more, solar offers optimal longevity. Plus, inclusion of battery storage enhances grid resilience—balancing intermittent supply and supporting peak demand periods.
Beyond operational benefits, solar investments bolster your environmental credentials. They signal commitment to sustainable energy and reinforce trust among stakeholders, regulators, and the communities you serve. Whether your priorities are reducing emissions, meeting renewable targets, or preparing for future demand, solar aligns with those long-term goals.
Smart Financing with Powerful Incentives
Our team will guide you through every financing option and incentive available to ensure your solar investment delivers maximum return.
The 30% Solar Investment Tax Credit
The business ITC is currently set at 30 percent and was extended until the mid-2030s through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)
MACRS Investment Depreciation
Every commercial solar system qualifies for the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) as a method of depreciation in which a business’s investments are recovered over a specified period.
Additional Commercial Solar Incentives
There may be future commercial solar incentives that are announced. It's always good to ask a Sun Valley Solar Solutions commercial solar consultant about the latest Arizona commercial solar incentives.
